KIPI hosts National Defence College Faculty and Students
John Onyango, the Managing Director, and a team of officers of the Institute Thursday 29th November 2024 hosted a group of six faculty members and thirteen participants from the National Defence College (NDC), a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF)-sponsored training institution at, the KIPI Centre offices.
The group was led by by Amb. Simon Nabukwesi, NDC Deputy Commandant – Civil. Mr Onyango told the NDC delegation that the Institute will continue collaborating with the KDF in promoting inventiveness and innovativeness in Kenya through protection and promotion of intellectual property (IP).
He noted that the Institute granted a patent and registered a trade mark to the Ministry of Defence for KDF’s innovative Diesel Powered Deftec Mobile Kitchen (DEFKITCH (K)-2012).The college offers a one-year Masters Degree programme in National Security and Strategy to selected senior military and government officials from Kenya and allied countries.
On his part, Amb. Nabukwesi said the NDC appreciated their collaboration with the Institute and that they would work closely to support innovation as a means of job creation and national development.
The current Course 27-2024/2025 has participants drawn from Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, Nepal, Nigeria, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.
